Music is not necessarily a competition until you have a drum off or whatever. It is good if someone likes it. I really like Shannon's style. For those of you throwing all the other names out there they are amazing too. I love Mike Portnoy's playing and Neil Peart, Simon Phillips, Scott Travis, Terry Bozzio, Les Binks, Cozy Powell, Carmine Appice, Vinnie Appice, John Bonham, Scott Rockenfield, the list goes on and on in no particular order. Mike is at the top by design however. There are two drummers I have played with that no one has heard of that I really enjoy as well. Troy Keller from Yakima Washington and Kevin Holbrook from Castle Creek New York. They each make me a better bassist.

He tunes his guitar A D G C F. That means the top four are what you'd find on a standard four-string bass all tuned down a full step, along with an added low A string.

Real rockers don't care about technique :D DuFF sounds great. There's no other rock bass player who have so recognisable sound :) In GN'R it was mix of flanger and chorus. Now he mostly use distortion and some delay. I know that all you know many, many technically better bassists, but for me DuFF is the best Rock bassist on the planet.

@briands1993 That must be sarcasm... His technique isnt anything special, and you can tell its a KoRn song because the bass sounds like mine when im taking the strings off... You cant tell what note he is playing...
